INDIANAPOLIS – Fresh from their triumphs in Beijing, China, 16-year old local Olympians Samantha Peszek and Bridget Sloan will join their U.S. gymnastics teammates for the Nov. 11 Conseco Fieldhouse appearance of The 2008 Tour of Gymnastics Superstars. Peszek, of McCordsville, attends Cathedral High School and competed in the uneven bars at last week’s Olympic gymnastics competition. Sloan, of Pittsboro and Tri-West High School, was 11th in the all-around during last week’s team preliminaries.
Peszek and Sloan will join all-around Olympic gold medalist Nastia Liukin, all-around Olympic silver medalist Shawn Johnson and 2008 U.S. Team silver medalist Chellsie Memmel for at least for the tour stop in Indianapolis. Other dates have not been confirmed. Other participants include men’s Bronze winning Olympic team members Jonathan Horton, Kevin Tan, Joe Hagerty and Justin Spring, and former Olympic medalists Morgan Hamm, Paul Hamm, Shannon Miller and Blaine Wilson.
The 36-city, two-month trek across the United States brings world class gymnastics and music from Disney’s hottest young recording artists to Conseco Fieldhouse. Tickets went on sale August 19 and are priced at $31.50, $41.50 and $51.50, with a limited number of Champions Circle seats. The 2008 Tour of Gymnastics Superstars offers fans a unique opportunity to see some of their favorite gymnasts perform live in an extraordinary sports and music extravaganza. In addition to medal-worthy athletic routines the show will feature songs from the Walt Disney Records’ Disney Girlz Rock 2 CD and live performances from teen sensations Jordan Pruitt and KSM. Jordan’s new album, Permission to Fly features the single “One Love” and is currently available exclusively at Limited Too stores. KSM recorded the show’s theme song, “Hero in You,” a new pop/rock anthem written and produced by Matthew Gerrard and Robbie Nevil of “High School Musical” fame. KSM’s debut album is set for release in 2009.
